Jeff AllenOn April 12, 20023, Council Member Allen met with Senator Richard Roth’s chief of staff
and found how important timing is when it comes to requesting funding from the state
and the City needs to make sure that the correct representatives receive the requests
made by the City.
On April 12-14, 2023, Council Member Allen attended the Cal Cities 2023 City Leaders
Summit in Sacramento, California, and attended the following discussions:
• Strategies for Local Governments to Prevent Organized Retail Crime
o The value of Flock cameras
• Partnering for Protection: Looking Past Jurisdiction to Provide School Safety
o The value of collaboration through partnerships
On April 1, 2023, Council Member Allen participated in the Coalition for a Smoke-Free
Grand Terrace Walk-A-Thon at Richard Rollins Park.
Council Member Allen suggested that the Historical & Cultural Activities Committee put
together historical information for the residents explaining why parks and streets in the
City are named after various individuals who have significant contributions to the City.
He thought it might be helpful to the residents and would like to see the information
placed on the City’s website.
