On April 20, 2023, Council Member Henderson attended the League of California Cities Inland Empire Division Lunch Meeting Regional Legislative Update. Council Member Henderson had an opportunity to briefly meet with Senator Richard Roth, however, his Chief of Staff, Gilbert Martinez provided valuable input and insight. Council Member Henderson also suggested that the City of Grand Terrace take it to the next level in terms of legislative activity. If the City is to be successful in obtaining funds for the City’s priorities, that is a 24/7, 365-day activity for those organizations that have proven to be successful. Congressman Pete Aguilar just announced some significant contributions to local cities and hospitals with funds that could come to Grand Terrace if the effort is made. Council Member Henderson’s challenge is to establish, maintain, and nurture the required relationships that are necessary to have an effective legislative agenda and the implementation of the programs associated with that agenda.
