On April 13, 2023, Council Member Rodriguez-Robles attended the San Bernardino
County Transportation Authority Transit Committee and discussed the following:
• Contract Change Orders
After the committee meeting the Southern California Associated Government’s
Executive Director and his planning staff discussed the following:
• Impacts on the inland region by the port activity
• The siting of warehouses
• Transportation gridlock
o SBCTA leaders have been working on an express lane for truck traffic.
This area is getting a disproportionate burden of the cost. There have
been some discussions about some of the port activity being re-routed to
other places. The director did hear these so there is an expectation of
some policy adjustments and discussions coming forward.
• No increase in transportation funding due to state budget deficit
• Possible future discussion establishing a metropolitan transportation agency to
receive federal funding.
On April 20, 2023, Council Member Henderson attended the League of California Cities
Inland Empire Division Lunch Meeting Regional Legislative Update.
