SB 1383 PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
•Reduce production of short-
lived climate pollutants via a
reduction in the amount of
organic wastes landfilled.
•Divert and recover edible
food for the food insecure.
•Decrease the jurisdiction’s
GHG footprint and increase
its sustainability by achieving
a 75% reduction in the
statewide disposal of organic
waste in landfills.

SB 1383 CCM REQUIREMENTS
•Notify the generator upon finding prohibited
container contaminants in a container.
•The notice shall include information regarding the
generator’s requirement to separate materials into
the appropriate containers properly.
•The notice may be left on the generator’s container,
gate, or door when the violation occurs, and/or be
mailed, e-mailed, or electronically messaged to the
generator.
