1990-04 RESOLUTION NO. 90-04
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE ,
CALIFORNIA OPPOSING SB 1859 , WHICH WOULD
CHANGE CURRENT PROCEDURES FOR FORMATION OF
NEW COUNTIES
WHEREAS , SB 1859 would change existing procedures for
new county formation ; and
WHEREAS , current state statute requires that a new
county formation vote have a dual -majority ; all those residing in
the 'existing county must vote in the majority to allow formation
of the new county ; and
WHEREAS , SB 1859 would dis:enf.ranchis:e the ballots of
the county , affecting all members of the existing counties and
would take away their right to voice their opinion ; and
NOW , THEREFORE , the City Council of the City of Grand
Terrace DOES HEREBY RESOLVE as follows :
This City Council urges the non-support of SB 1859 and
that cities retain the "dual -majority" requirement.
ADOPTED this 24th day of May , 1990 .
