1979-47 RESOLUTION NO . 79-47
A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, TO THE CALIFORNIA
ENERGY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City of Grand
Terrace that the California Energy Commission Staff is forecasting
an annual growth of peak electric power demand of 1 .4% for Southern
California for the years 1978 through 1990; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grand Terrace believes this forecast
rate of growth to be inconsistent with, and considerably less than,
the City's recent growth trends; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grand Terrace is also concerned that
restricting the growth of electrical power can adversely affect present
and future economic conditions and could have a severe impact of the
general health and safety of the City citizenry.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the, J
City of Grand Terrace hereby requests the California Energy Commission -
to:
1 . Carefully analyze the basis and reasonableness of the
Commission Staff's preliminary forecast for electrical power growth
within our area;
2. actively pursue obtaining alternate resources of energy
to supplement fossil fuel production of energy, i .e. , solar, hydro,
coal gasification, wind, thermal , etc.
3. assure the citizenry of the City of Grand Terrace that
sufficient energy resources will continue to be available for the balance
of this century to promote commerce and a better standard of living
for all concerned.
