1980-15 RESOLUTION NO. 80-15
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING
THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA TO PLACE THE CITY OF GRAND
TERRACE WITHIN THE TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE AREA
OF THE ' CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AND INCLUDING
THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE WITHIN THE TELE-
PHONE INFLUENCE AREA OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO RATHER THAN THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE
WHEREAS, the City of Grand Terrace is located within the
County of San Bernardino, of which the county seat is the
City of San Bernardino; and
WHEREAS, most services received by the residents of the
City of Grand Terrace are received either from the City of
Grand Terrace or from the County of San Bernardino, including
police protection from the County of San Bernardino Sheriff' s
Department; and
WHEREAS, most essential and the necessary phone calls
outside the City of Grand Terrace are more than likely to
the City of San Bernardino rather than to the City of
Riverside; and
WHEREAS, the result of City of Grand Terrace residents
having to pay toll charges for calls to the county seat and
for other necessary services results in a hardship to the
citizens of the City of Grand Terrace; and
WHEREAS, both social and economic ties of the City of
Grand Terrace are to the- City of San Bernardino, the county
seat of the County of San Bernardino; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace
has determined that the City of Grand Terrace should be within
the toll-free area of the City of San Bernardino and should be
included within the directories of the City of San Bernardino:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Grand Terrace does hereby:
Section 1. Request the Public Utilities Commission of
the State of California and the General Telephone Company to
include the City of Grand Terrace within the toll-free telephone
area of the City of San Bernardino.
Section 2 . That the City of Grand Terrace be included
within the telephone directory of the City of San Bernardino
in order that its citizens may have easy and ready access to
a
the telephone numbers of those government, social and economic
organizations that serve the City of Grand Terrace.
Section 3 . That the City Manager is hereby directed and
authorized to forward copies of this resolution to the Public
Utilities Commission of the 'State of California and to the
General Telephone Company. Further, that the City Manager is
directed to do those acts necessary to request that those
items included within this resolution be implemented, including
filing an application with the Public Utilities Commission of
the State of California.
