1980-48 RESOLUTION NO. 80-48
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE CIRCU-
LATION OF THE LOWER PER CAPITA TAX ACT TO LEGAL-
IZE LAS VEGAS STYLE GAMBLING THROUGH THE INITIA-
TIVE PROCESS.
WHEREAS, the City of Adelanto and the City of Isleton are
named as sites for Las Vegas style gambling in an experimental pilot
program within the State of California for a limited time; and
WHEREAS, the City of Adelanto has requested support from the
City of Grand Terrace regarding the circulation of an initiative MEASURE,
the lower per capita tax act, amending the State Constitution and legaliz-
ing Las Vegas style gambling; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace has
determined that the successful circulation and eventual passage of such
Constitutional amendment would not be in the best interest of the citi-
zens of the City of Grand Terrace:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . That the circulation of the lower per capita tax
act to legalize Las Vegas style gambling through the initiative process
is hereby opposed.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to forward copies of this Resolution opposing the circulation and passage
of the proposed initiative constitutional amendment to legislators repre-
senting the City of Grand Terrace, League of California Cities, and any
other appropriate individuals or organizations.
ADOPTED this 4th day of December, 1980.
