1981-23 RESOLUTION NO. 81-23
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE PROPOSED
CONSOLIDATION OR MERGER OF THE OFFICE OF THE
COUNTY CLERK WITH THAT OF THE SUPERIOR COURT.
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors for the County of San Ber-
nardino is currently considering a proposal to consolidate or merge the
Office of the County Clerk with that of the Superior Court; and
WHEREAS, said consolidation or merger would not be in the
best public interest;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . That the City Council does hereby oppose the pro-
posed consolidation or merger- of the Office of .the County Clerk with
that of the Superior Court for the reasons set forth as follows:
a. That the proposed consolidation or merger
would impair the -objective integrity of the
Office of the County Clerk;
b. That the proposed consolidation or merger
would remove the right of the voters to
elect the County Clerk;
c. That the proposed consolidation or merger would
involve the combination of non-related functions
to the public detriment.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to forward certified copies of this Resolution to each member of the San
Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and to each city in the County
of San Bernardino.
