1981-44 RESOLUTION NO. 81-44
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY .OF
GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, STRONGLY OPPOSING THE
ADOPTION OF ASSEMBLY BILL 1693 (TUCKER) .
WHEREAS, Proposed Assembly Bill 1693, introduced by
Assemblyman Tucker, would provide for binding arbitration; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of binding arbitration would work
to the severe detriment of the City of Grand. Terrace and all other
municipal governments within the State of California; and
WHEREAS, this City and other municipalities within the State
of California are currently involved in a struggle to combat the
financial woes resulting from the current economy and from legislative
and initiative enactments imposing great constraints on the financial
existence of local municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of Assembly Bill 1693 would establish '
a detrimental system which does not conform-with the traditional
employee/employer relationship existing between public employees and
municipal governments in the State of California, and in the United
States;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace
does hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows:
SECTION 1 . That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to notify all legislators of the State of California
representing ,the area encompassing the City of G"rand Terrace by
forwarding a copy of this Resolution to said legislators.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and Staff are hereby
authorized and directed to do all actions necessary to implement the
purposes. of this Resolution.
