1981-65 RESOLUTION NO. 81-65
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING AND REQUESTING
THE REPEAL OF SENATE BILL 2489 (PRESLEY) .
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 2489 (Presley) allows the California Department
of Corrections to contract for a pre-release facilities for inmates; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Corrections considers said
facilities to be a method for rehabilitating inmates of the California Penal
System; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace is not
convinced this type of facility is conducive to rehabilitating repetitive
felons;, and
WHEREAS, a coalition of concerned citizens of Highgrove and Grand
Terrace, California, has voiced concerns and objections to a pre-release
facility for inmates being proposed within their communities; and,
WHEREAS, said City Council has determined it to be in the best
interest of its citizens to oppose the legislation that could mandate that
type of facility to be located in such close proximity to a residential area ;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE its opposition to Senate Bill 2489 (Presley) and requests -that
Senate Bill 2489 be repealed.
