Item 2a: The meeting:,Agenda for August 7, 2018 was approved. Item 2b: The minutes for-the June 12, 2018 special meeting were approved. Item 2c: Continue, CERT Organization • Chairman Tickner explained to the volunteers that the City Council will have to adopt a Resolution to reinstate the CERT Program. The documents that.are needed as vice,move forward .with the CERT reinstating include the CERT organization, list of CERT equipment, training, and standards. • Chairman Tickner reminded the group that October is the Great Shake out month and CERT outreach activities can include taking the CERT trailer to Stater Bros and provide earthquake. information.to residents.. • Committee Member Bennett recommended to have pre-assembled packages for resident outreach distribution and include County information. • Chairman Tickner explained to the group that under the.CERT reinstitution, the activities anticipated will include bimonthly meetings and quarterly training. Training can be organized for CPR and First Aid classes which take one full day and,are often offered by Loma Linda Hospital. In addition, the City's CERT Program will. have to do their own additional training and drills. • Committee Member Ramos explained that under the previous CERT Program the group used to have monthly meetings and conduct 10-20-minute training on specific CERT items. • Resident Giroux asked if the City has any CERT bylaws in place or if the CERT bylaws will have to be created. A recommendation was made to investigate the FEMA website for bylaws information and to designate a Committee specific to assist with the preparation of the City's CERT bylaws and CERT documents. During what type of activities will the CERT volunteers be covered by the City's insurance. Item 2d: Trailer and Shed Inventory • Chairman Tickner provided information regarding the inventory previously conducted to the trailer located at the Fire Station No.-23.. Chairman Tickner also mentioned he will,do a site visit.and take picture documentation of the CERT materials and equipment located at the City's yard. The inventory activities for the City's shed and trailer are anticipated to take all morning, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and most of the-materials are expected to be expired medical items and outdated handouts. • Resident Giroux explained the condition of the trailer parked at the San Bernardino Fire Station No.23 and volunteered to do some of the work himself to get the trailer in working condition. Item 2e: Recap resident volunteers `Cooling Center' activation on Friday, July 6 and Saturday July 7, 2018 Planner Aguirre gave a summary regarding the Cooling Center activation on Friday, Y p Y July. 2018 and explained that the Cit .Mana9 er would like.to activate the Cooling Center when the temperatures reach 110' or higher. The Senior Center is one of the City's Cooling Centers along with the City.Library. • Director Molina stated the importance of monitoring the weather to be able to plan the Cooling Center activation. Monitoring will allow Staff to notify volunteers via e-mail to be on standby in anticipation. of activation activities. . . Item 2f. Recap the meeting between City Manager, City Staff, and EOC.representatives (Chairman Tickner and Committee Member Bennett). • Chairman Tickner gave an update of the direction the City wants for. the.CERT Program. Item 2g. Volunteers for the `Movies and Music in the Park' events • Chairman Tickner gave a description about the 'Movies and,Music in the Park', events and requested volunteers to assist with the City's water/first aid station. The.volunteer's assistance will be to provide water to whoever needs hydration. , The station will also have a first aid kit with-bandages, antibiotic towelette, gauze pads, etc. for whoever has a very minor cut or scrape. The.events dates are on Saturdays between the hours of 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. • Residents Ed Giroux and Becky Giroux volunteered for Saturday, July 28, 2018.
