ROLL CALL: Present: Committee Members Freund, Rivera; Chairman Phelps Absent: Vice -Chair Firnkoess 2. Public Comments None. 3. Staff Presentation a. Update - March 1, 2019 Parks & Recreation Committee Workshop G. Harold Duffey, City Manager provided the Committee with a copy of the City's 2020 Activities Guide. He asked the Committee Members to review and provide any additional input they deem necessary for the activity guide to his office by no later than November 22, 2019. Minutes Parks 8 Recreation Advisory Committee November 14, 2019 Chairman Phelps requested that Agenda Item No. I be voted on at this time. 1. Approve October 10, 2019 Vice -Chair Julia Firnkoess arrived at 4:19 p.m. Ayes: Committee Members Freund, Rivera; Vice -Chair Firnkoess; Chairman Phelps Discussion returned back to Agenda Item No. 3.b. b. Discussion - Appointment of Youth/Student Committee Member — One -Two Year Term The City Clerk was directed to draft a letter to the Grand Terrace High School ASB Office requesting that the Parks & Recreation Committee be provided with recommendations and names of those students that would be interested in participating in the Parks & Recreation Youth/Student Committee Member vacancy for a one-two year term. Also, the City Clerk was directed to post a notice of Vacancy for the position by no later than November 28, 2019. c. Schedule Meeting to Address Youth Activity Issues Alan French, Director of Public Works will be coordinating a meeting with the various sports leagues who utilize the playing fields to meet and review the requirement of a facility use agreement and the rules and regulations of the playing fields. 4. Committee Member Comments Chairman Phelps requested information on how residents can be able to place student banners on the light poles throughout the City. 5. Staff Comments G. Harold Duffey, City Manager informed the Committee that the Dog Park will be closed for the month of February 2020 for re -seeding. City Manager Duffey also suggested during the re -opening of the park after re -seeding, the Committee may want to hold a fundraiser for the Dog Park Endowment Fund.
