ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING
SPEED LIMITS ON BARTON ROAD AND MT. VERNON
AVENUE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
Section 1. Findings. The City Council hereby finds,
pursuant to traffic and engineering surveys conducted during
1979 , that speed limits on Barton Road and Mt. Vernon Avenue
need to be changed and established to provide for the protection
of the general public and to facilitate the orderly movement of
traffic in a reasonable and safe manner.
Section 2 . Designated Speed Limit. The prima facie speed
limit shall be as set forth in this section on those streets or
parts of streets designated as follows when signs are erected
giving notice thereof:
Barton Road from the western City boundaries to
180 feet east of the La Crosse Avenue - 40 M.P.H.
Barton Road from 180 feet east of La Crosse Avenue
to 150 feet east of Palm Avenue - 35 M.P .H.
Barton Road from La Crosse Avenue to 400 feet
west of Vivienda Avenue (when school children are
present) - 25 M.P.H.
Barton Road from 150 feet east of Palm Avenue to
the eastern City boundary - 40 M.P.H.
Mt. Vernon Avenue from the north City boundary to
Minona Drive - 40 M.P.H.
Mt. Vernon Avenue from 1,400 feet north of Barton
Road to Barton Road - 45 M.P.H.
Mt. Vernon Avenue from Barton Road south to the
southern City boundary - 45 M.P.H.
Mt. Vernon Avenue from DeSoto Street south of
DeBerry Street approximately .10 miles (when school
children are present) - 25 M.P.H.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take
effect thirty (30) days following the adoption thereof.
Section 4 . Posting. The City Clerk is hereby authorized
and directed to post this Ordinance in three (3) public places
designated by Resolution of the City Council.
