60 ORDINANCE NO. 60
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, REGARDING CONSOLIDATION
OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS WITH THE
STATEWIDE NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTIONS IN EVEN-
NUMBERED YEARS.
WHEREAS, the State Legislature recently adopted a law that now allows
general law cities to change the date of their municipal elections, so that
the elections can occur at the same time as certain statewide elections; and
WHEREAS, an Advisory Measure was placed on the ballot for the April
13, 1982, General Municipal Election asking citizens of Grand Terrace their
preference for consolidation of General Municipal Elections or whether they
preferred to have the General Municipal Elections remain the same; and
WHEREAS, the majority of citizens voting at said election voted their
preference to consolidate the General Municipal Election with the Statewide
November General Elections in even-numbered years;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The General Municipal Elections for the City of Grand
Terrace shall be held on the same day as the Statewide General Elections
currently held in November in even-numbered years.
Section 2. This Ordinance is enacted pursuant to California
Government Code, Section 36503.5 and does not become effective until the
election day change is approved by the San Bernardino County Board of
Supervisors.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall become effective 31 days after its
adoption subject to approval as set forth in Section 2, above.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall cause this Ordinance to be posted in
three (3) public places designated for such purpose by the City Council .
Section 5. First read at a Regular meeting of the City Council of
said City held on the 13th day of May, 1982, and finally adopted and ordered
posted at an Adjourned Regular meeting of said City Council on the 9th daffy of
June, 1982.
