Council Member Sylvia RoblesOn February 17, 2022, Council Member Sylvia Robles attended the League of
California Cities Inland Empire Division meeting. She also announced that she is the
League’s president appointee for governance, transparency, and labor relations.
Discussion at the Inland Empire Division Meeting:
• Brown Act – Implement workplan to have cities be able to work the way we have
during the declared state of emergency on having public meetings on Zoom.
There was a very lively discussion from a lot of larger cities that they have
identified people posing as constituents during a City Council meeting, however
their IP address is from the Philippines, and they are participating in public
comment.
• An issue not considered: A Council Member alone in another City being required
to post the agenda at location if participating.
• Proposed requirement that City Council members attend a mandated course
about 2-3 hours on financial competency regarding City budgets.
