JC WALLACE HOUSE
−Serves men and/or women from 18 to those Aging-in-Place
−Focused on clients with mental health and housing needs
−Licensed as an “Adult Residential Facility”
•We refer to our “Facility” as a “Community” and
•“Clients” as “Residents”
−To achieve their best life, we want our residents to feel part of
something, more than a “facility”, but a home and community
•A community to learn and relearn new skills, by creating space
for individuals and small groups to experience meaning and feel
purposeful in their life.
−The community is not allowed to provide any medical care under
this licensure

IS JC WALLACE HOUSE A LOCKED COMMUNITY?
−NO, under California Law, an Adult Residential Facility cannot prevent
residents from leaving
−The program and staff, however, encourage residents to stay within the
facility and the delayed egress system notifies staff whenever a resident
leaves the facility
−Part of the therapeutic programming includes built-in incentives in the form
of points that residents earn for success within the transitional steps of the
program and for continued good behavior, which allow for greater freedom
to leave the facility
−Most of the resident’s activities are on-site (meals,therapy groups,
social activities, etc.)
−Transportation is provided to outside appointments as needed
