Initial Target
Plant 200+ trees citywide,
targeting residential
areas lacking replacement
parkway trees.
Project Overview
Event: Host an Earth Day tree planting event involving:
Coordination: Managed by Public Works staff with
volunteer support.
Additional Support: Mulch provided by Burrtec for
residents receiving new trees.
Contingency: Any trees not planted by May 31, 2025,
will be contracted to West Coast Arborist.
Resident Participation: Recipients must sign an
Agreement for Tree Planting in the Public Right of Way
(select preferred species and agree to maintain the tree).

Tree purchases - $43,540
Additional tree planting
by WCA - $25,000
Overtime - $3,360
Recommendation
Approve the Grand Terrace Grows initiative.
Authorize staff to proceed with:
Tree purchases
Community outreach
Planning the Earth Day tree planting event
Approve expenditures exceeding the City
Manager’s spending authority ($25,000) for tree
purchases.
Authorize generation of purchase orders for
all associated costs, up to a total of $75,000.
