Dear Mr. Cumblidge:
Commerce Way Warehouse
SA-00-11/E-00-12
Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on the above referenced project.
The proposed project involves the development of an 11,500 square foot warehouse
building adjoining State Route 215 south of the Barton Road Exit.
We have comments concerning the retaining wall proposed to be constructed along
State Route 215 right-of-way. The "Site Plan" sheet appears to show the retaining wall
adjoining State Route 215 at two northerly end points. However, the "Grading Plan"
seems to show a retaining wall to be built along some 185 feet of property line adjoining
the State right-of-way. We are particularly concerned with the "Grading Plan" because
existing security fencing, an irrigation system and eucalyptus trees closely adjoin the
property line in this area.
In' either case an Encroachment Permit would be required for construction of the
retaining wall where its design impacts facilities .in the State right-of-way. Our Permit
Department can be reached as follows:
Office of Permits (909) 383-4536
California Department of Transportation
464 W. Fourth Street, 6th Floor, MS 619
San Bernardino, CA 92401-1400
Through the Encroachment Permit process details such as the actual extent of
retaining wall construction, proposed cross sections and drainage facilities will need to
be provided. Where necessary any temporary removal of existing fencing would need
to be addressed.

Review of impacts to our existing Eucalyptus trees root systems would also likely need
to be assessed through the Encroachment Permit process. If you have any questions
concerning this information, please contact Mr. Mark Roberts at (909) 383-4149.
Sincerely,
