PUBLIC HEARING
6A. An Ordinance of the City of Grand Terrace, California, Amending Grand Terrace
Municipal Code,Chapter 10.08,Establishing Speed Limits for Various Streets in the
City of Grand Terrace
Craig Neustaedter, Traffic Engineer, indicated that the speed survey process is
governed by the California Vehicle Code and explained the process involved in
determining the recommended speed limits. He indicated that California State
Statutes require each agency to perform a traffic study at least every five years in
order to be able to enforce the speed limits through the use of radar.
Councilmember Hilkev, expressed concern that the study recommends increasing the
speed limit on Barton Road from Mt Vernon Avenue to Preston Street and on
DeBerry Street from Mt. Vernon Avenue to 1/4 mile east of Observation Drive; he
felt that this is an indication that the Sheriff Deputies are not enforcing the speed in
those areas.
Mavor Buchanan, questioned the recommendation to decrease the speed limit on Mt.
Vernon.
