RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE
AUTHORIZING NOMINATION
OF A PROJECT FOR FUNDING FROM THE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, in Year 2000 the State of California enacted into law Assembly Bill (AB) 2522 that
calls for Caltrans to establish and administer a single-year "Pedestrian Safety Program", to use
State transportation funds for construction of projects that have the potential to reduce pedestrian
injuries and fatalities and encourage increased walking and
WHEREAS, The State expects to fund $8 million worth of projects under this program, for this
year, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace possesses the legal authority to
nominate, finance, acquire, and construct projects that are eligible of funding under the AB 2522
program,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace,
CA, that:
1. City staff is authorized to nominate to Caltrans for funding under the AB 2522 program:
Intermittent sidewalks gap closures on Michigan Avenue from Commerce Way to Van Buren
Street
2. Patrizia Materassi, as the City of Grand Terrace Community and Economic Development
Director, is authorized, as the official representative of the City of Grand Terrace to act in
connection with the nomination and to provide such additional information as may be
required.
