CALL MEETING TO ORDER:
Karen Suarez, Vice Chair called the Parks &Recreation Advisory Committee Regular Meeting
to order at 4:39 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Committee Member, Julia Firnkoess

1. Approve February 14, 2019 Minutes
Committee Member Freund moved, and Committee Member Firnkoess seconded to
approve the February 14, 2019 minutes.

2. Approve March 1, 2019 Minutes
Committee Member Firnkoess moved, and Vice-Chair Suarez seconded to approve the
March 1, 2019 minutes.

4. Staff Presentation
None.
5. 2019 Activity Guide
G:Harold Duffey, City Manager informed the Committee that due to the delay using an
outside source to complete the guide, Staff is bringing it in-house and anticipates having
a draft available for review at the Committee's next meeting in April 2019.
6. Recreation and Special Event Activities
a. Recreation Activities
The 12th Annual Walk on Blue Mountain Hike was a success and City Manager
Duffey hoped everyone enjoyed the video that was recorded of the day's events. The
video has been posted on the City's Facebook and YouTube pages.
b. Special Event Activities
i. Movies in the Park
City Manager Duffey provided the Committee with a list of movies for the-
upcoming Movies in the Park that will be scheduled in June, July and August of
2019. The Committee provided additional movie titles to the list which will be
made available to the public to vote on which movies they would like to see. The
top six vote getters will be the movies shown.throughout the summer.
ii. Pick/Plant/Paint
The"Keep Grand Terrace Beautiful" event is scheduled for April 13, 2019
beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the former Stater Bros. parking lot. Volunteers will sign
up for which activity they wish to participate in, sign waivers and will be directed
to the location of that activity.
Walls will be painted at the following locations: Mt. Vernon Street, Main Street
and Barton Road.
A fruit picking activity will be held across the street from the Senior Center.
Replacement trees and plants will be planted in the public right of way on Mt.
Vernon and Main Streets, as well as in Fitness Park. Lunch will be served at the
park beginning at 11:30 a.m. where afterwards,-20,000—,,30,000 lady bugs will be
released.

7. Committee Member Comments
Committee Member Firnkoess wanted to thank everyone who participated in the Blue
Mountain Hike in making it a success. She also wanted to announce the upcoming Girl
Scout Women's Celebration Month to be held in the Community Room at City Hall on
March 8, 2019 beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Meeting at 5:01 p.m.
