I remember a Grand Terrace that had a Parks and Rec department not a committee of volunteers that do their best to fill the hole of a department. I remember swim classes and swim teams. I remember most kids playing soccer and then baseball. I remember the RC Track (K & M) where Walgreens is now. We have lost many of the outlets for our kids to socialize safely. We have parks designed for kids 10 and under. What about the kids that are older? Yes some play sports, yes some are in scouting, but many are not. We need a safe place for the kids to come and hang out and practice tricks on their skateboards and skooters. We know that businesses do not want them in their parking lots damaging the tire stops, or in the walkways where the railings are, or the areas where the steps are. Nor do we want them their damaging personal, or city property. Let's work together to get these kids off the street and into safe place for them to be kids and skate a little.
