04-04-2016 HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL ACPIVITIES COMMITTEE
Minutes for April 4, 2016
The meeting was called to order at 6:12 P.M. by Chairperson Pauline Grant.
Those also present were Ann Petta, Frances Carter, Shelly Rosenkild, Martina
Boentaran, Susan Robles, Martha Monteon and City Clerk, Pat Jacquez Nares.
Masako Gifford was absent.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: The minutes for March 7, 2016 were read and approved with
one correction; with a motion by Shelly and seconded.by Ann, all in favor.
Correction as follows: The City requested that Shelly sign release forms for
the painting of the Art Show display peg boards by the Leos Club.
List of Judges and volunteers for last year's 34th. Country Fair was presented
to the members for future reference.
TREASURER'S REPORT: No treasury report, Masako is on vacation.
HISTORICAL REPORT: The Senior Citizens Complex has been updating the glass dis-
play case, located in the City Hall lobby. This month the beautiful art wood
work of Sarah DeWeese is on display.
Ann will take some Art Show applications to the Senior Citizens Center.
The old Country Fair banner will be kept as part of the Historical archives.
NEW BUSINESS: Art Show - Sunday, May 1 , 2016 1-4 P.M.
Saturday April 30, the Committee will be there from 12-3 P.M.
and will return 7 P.M. -approx 9:30 P.M.
Sunday, the Committee will be there from 12 P.M. -approx 5:30 P.M.
The Art Show advertisement is already appearing in the Highgrove Newspaper.
City Clerk, Pat Jacquez Nares, is waiting for the final approval of the Posters.
Martina will be making the labels on the computer for the participating Artists;
after Ann provides her with the final list.
This year the participating artists will receive a raffle ticket to claim their
work and the ticket will be stamped on the back to indicate clearance has been
approved to pick-up the corresponding art work.
Shelly will buy balloons to decorate the community room for the Art Show. A
motion was made by Ann and seconded by Frances to approve Shelly's expense to
buy balloons; all members in favor.
Two folding screens and the Art Show peg boards are going to be painted by City
Hall maintenance workers.
Frances will bring a folding table, punch water and ice.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:08 P.M.
