03-03-2014 HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE Minutes for March 3,2014 The meeting was"called to order at 6:15 PM by Chairperson.Pauline Grant. Those also present were Ann Petta,Masako Gifford, Frances Carter, Shelly Rosenkild, Martina Boentaran, Susan Robles,Martha Monteon and City Secretary, Mari Montes. SECRETARY'S REPORT: The minutes of February 3,2014 were read and approved on"a motion by Ann and seconded by Shelly. Motion carried-All in favor. TREASURER'S REPORT: The budget shows a total balance of$695.94 and a petty cash of $191.06. HISTORICAL REPORT: Frances-will keep bringing articles from the Sun and Ann will bring articles from some of the other newspapers to be added to the Grand Terrace Historical collection. The Foundation of Grand Terrace will keep upgrading the glass display case in the lobby. OLD BUSINESS:' Reimbursement to Shelly $11.28 (not including tax) for photos she took during past events for the year 2013. Another set of photos will be ordered. Shelly brought the beautiful photos she took during 2013 and passed them around to share and appreciate. p ffj{- C[ph6p, (! Some changes were made to the�Country Fair Guidelines and approved with corrections. The Country Fair Guidelines will be included on the reverse of the application, as part of the application. NEW BUSINESS: Art Show on Sunday,May 0. with set up on Saturday, May 3Ta We have.posters and applications. Mari will print the flyers in color. Frances will donate light lavender paper. We need about 50 applications in white color. The Woman's Club Tea Party will be on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at The Lions Club. Invitation extended to our Committee members with RVPS requested. J Respectfully submitted, Martha Monteon Secretary Grand Terrace Historical and Cultural Activities Committee �11 Country Fair Guidelines Mission Statement: The Country Fair began as, and continues to be, an arts and crafts show with an emphasis in exhibiting local arts and craft talent in area such as paintings, ceramics and hand sewn items. Home-grown plants & produce are also sold. Baking and cooking skills are showcased in competition and sold after judging. The goal is to exhibit items that are locally produced by people who live or work in Grand Terrace, and to provide a family- friendly, fun and non-controversial community event. The Country Fair is not intended to be a venue for controversial political and religious messages that would interfere with-this purpose. To that end of providing a neutral environment free of advocacy to be enjoyed by both locals and their families, the County Fair seeks to exclude (as permissible by law) the presence of both political and religious content at the County Fair: This exclusion seeks to avoid imposing political or religious messages upon attendees. This exclusion (as permissible by law)from the Country Fair of both political and religious messages (whether by advocacy or display) is also intended to avoid on the part of the Country Feathe']#� of Grand Terrace any appearance of sponsorship or, or advocacy for, ar or religious affiliation. Who May Generally Participate Those who live or work in Grand Terrace are encouraged to participate in the Country Fair.. Only children ages 10-17 may participate in the "Kids Cookie Contest".
