07-02-2018 HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE Minutes for July 2,2018 The meeting was called to order at 6:07 p.m. by Chairperson, Pauline Grant. Those present were Ann Petta, Frances Carter, Shelly Rosenkild, Martina Boentaran, Shirley Hogue, Martha Monteon, City Clerk, Debra Thomas, City Manager, Harold Duffey. Two members representing the 40t' Anniversary Committee honored us with their presence, Hanni Bennett and Carolynn Payne. SECRETARY'S REPORT: The minutes for June 4, 2018 were read and approved on a motion by Frances and seconded by Ann;all in favor/MP. TREASURER'S REPORT: Shirley Hogue was present as the new Treasurer. After the meeting, Debra counted the money in the petty cash box in the amount of$846.95 and handed the box to our new Treasurer. HISTORICAL REPORT: The Terrace Hills Middle School has continued updating the display case in the City Hall lobby. Ann will start calling people for the chili and baking contests and other participants. NEW BUSINESS: Appoint Chairman,Vice-Chairman and Treasurer Frances nominated Pauline Grant to continue as Chairperson and Shirley Hogue as Treasurer,on a motion by Frances and seconded by Ann;with all in favor/MP. 40th Anniversary Committee introductions/Discussion Mr. Duffey informed us that the City Council approved several community/Committee members for the 40th City Birthday/Anniversary. We can have a Historical and Cultural Activities Committee member to represent us on their committee, if we wish. The City will have the Celebration during the month of October, the event will be an outdoor venue and a family festivity which, will take place during the day. The City Council will have a meeting on July 24, 2018 to recommend other options. This Committee appreciates the interest that Mr. Duffey and the members of the 40th Anniversary Committee members have shown. Instead of participating in this other events, the Historical and Cultural Activities Committee wishes to continue their traditional December Pot-luck Dinner. r rr� 37th Annual Country Fair - Saturday, November 3,2018 This year in addition to the chili-beans we will be selling hot dogs. The City is planning a Farmer's Market to enhance the Country Fair but the City will be in complete control of this activity.
