HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE
Minutes for April 9,2018
The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Chairperson Pauline Grant. Those present were
Anri Petta, Frances Carter, Masako Gifford, Shelly Rosenkild, Martina Boentaran, Martha
Monteon and City Clerk, Debra Thomas.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: The minutes for March 5, 2018 were read and approved with one
correction on a motion by Frances and seconded by Ann;all in favor.
Ann told us that Mr. Duffey called to tell her that he heard from Councilman Ken Henderson that
we were having a problem with the "minutes". Mr. Duffey wanted her to assure the Historical
and Cultural Activities Committee that he did not intend,, in any way, to interfere with our
activities; that his comments were suggestions only. Ann wrote a letter indicating this and
requested that her letter be added, verbatum, to the "minutes". Frances made a
motion to approve,seconded by Pauline;all in favor.
TREASURER'S REPORT: The budget shows a balance of$168.71 and a petty cash of $868.57.
Masako's expense of$8.00 for tablecloth cleaning, from petty cash account.
HISTORICAL REPORT: The Terrace Hills Middle School has been updating and keeping up the
display glass case in the lobby of City Hall.
Correction: Ann will contact local artists for the Art Show and also see if one will like to offer a
live demostration.
NEW BUSINESS: 34th.Annual Art Show
Sunday, May 6,2018 -City Hall Community Room-1 to 4 p.m.
May 5, Saturday -SET UP- Committee arrival: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. approximately
*Artists bring art work from 1 to 3 p.m.and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Committee returning: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.approximately
May 6,Sunday: Committee arrival: 12 p.m.to closing time.
Ann will provide a diagram of the Art Show set-up to the City and the maintenance crew will set
up tables and display boards, before noon on Saturday.
Masako will pick-up a key at City Hall to have access before and after the event.
Advertisement for the Art Show has been published in the April edition of the Blue Mountain

Outlook news magazine.
The posters are ready and on display at the kyosks and the flyers are also ready. City Clerk,
Debra, printed 75 flyers which will be distributed and posted at city businesses and stores,two
weeks before the event;by Masako and Martha.
Martina will be in charge of making the tags for the Art work and Shelly will buy balloons in
spring colors.
A motion was made by Pauline and seconded by Ann,to approve Shelly's expense to print 2017
photos of the Art Show;all in favor.
Appetizers and refreshments will be provided by the Committee.
Classic background music will be provided by the City of Grand Terrace, if possible.
The Friends of the Library will be hosting a used book sale in the parking lot at City Hall from 10
a.m.to 2 p.m.
It has been suggested to the Committee,that display banners can be donated to someone who
makes a contribution;discussion pending.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:09 p.m. Next meeting: Monday, May 7th 2018
